class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>During my first visit to Dahab in February 2023, visiting the world-famous St. Catherine&#8217;s Monastery and climbing the holy Mount Moses at sunrise were at the top of my list. After a two-hour (mini)bus ride from Dahab, we set off upwards at 2:30 a.m., wrapped up warmly for the winter temperatures.<\/p><p>My companion was a young man named Sam from Singapore who worked for a well-known German sporting goods company. However, Sam arrived at the starting point dressed a bit too summery and had to be wrapped up warm first. This turned out asw absolutely necessary, as it was -2\u00b0C at altitude that morning and a icy wind was blowing. Furthermore, the last part of the trail was partially icy and very slippery.<\/p><p>The climb to the summit was therefore more strenuous than in the warmer months. The reward was an indescribable sunrise with majestic views. I felt the special spiritual atmosphere of this place, which is sacred not only to Christians.<\/p><p>The descent in daylight was much easier. We were now able to enjoy the magnificent desert and mountain landscape as the temperatures rose.<\/p><p>Before we returned to Dahab around midday, we visited the monastery and learnt more about the Greek Orthodox faith. There, I also caught a glimpse of a branch of the famous \u2018burning bush\u2019. According to tradition, God revealed himself to Moses through this bush.
